Fall Protection Lifeline Systems
Protecting your workforce against falls from height is essential. We understand that collective systems like guardrail are not always a practical solution, that is why we offer a range of fall protection lifeline systems.
Whilst lifeline systems are not at the top of the hierarchy of control measures for protecting against falls from height, they meet stringent British and European design specifications and provide the most reliable level of safety where collective measures cannot be used.

Fall Protection Anchor System Design
Ocean Technical Safety Services Ltd have proven experience of designing bespoke anchor systems for fall restraint, fall arrest, rope access and rescue.
Aimed at the specific needs of maritime related industries, our designs and solutions include the use of low profile rails, concealed/removable eyebolts, vacuum anchors, wire based systems and davits. We always respect the work at height hierarchy of control, designing to prevent falls from occurring wherever possible and only employing fall arrest* where no other option is available.
We work closely with our customers and project stakeholders to ensure that our designs meet the specific customer requirements so that work at height can be undertaken safely and work tasks carried out efficiently.
Whatever systems are specified, they will meet the highest safety standards using the most recent design codes including BS EN 795:2012 Personal fall protection equipment - anchor devices ; BS 8610: 2017 Personal Fall Protection Equipment – Anchor Systems – Specification; BS 7883: 2019 Personal Fall Protection Equipment – Anchor Systems – System design, installation and inspection – Code of practice. Structural designs are validated by third party structural engineers to ensure they meeting exacting safety requirements and coordinate correctly with the vessel structure.
*systems that employ fall arrest must have an accompanying rescue plan and competent persons available to fulfil the plan should a fall occur.

Overhead Lifeline Systems
Ocean Technical Safety Services Ltd is an SFS approved installer and has years of experience designing and installing overhead wire fall protection lifelines.
The SFS overhead lifeline system comprises stainless steel end anchors, intermediate brackets where required, high strength 8mm stainless steel wire cable, energy absorber, tensioning device and overhead traveller device.
Multi-span Overhead Systems:
Up to 250m in length (NB - the effective length reduces when corners are introduced); up to 4 users; option of overhead or wall mounted configuration; 8mm diameter 7x7 or 1x19 stainless steel wire rope construction.
High Tension Single-Span Overhead System:
Up to 60m straight line spans without intermediate brackets; up to 4 users; option of overhead or wall mounted configuration; 8mm diameter 1x19 stainless steel wire rope construction.
NOTE: 1.The system should only be used by those who are competent to work at height.
NOTE2: Systems that employ fall arrest must have an accompanying rescue plan and competent persons available to fulfil the plan should a fall occur.

Vertical Lifeline Systems
Ocean Technical Safety Services Ltd is an SFS approved installer and has years of experience designing and installing vertical wire fall protection systems for fixed ladders.
The SFS vertical lifeline system is designed to act as a means of protecting from falls from height or as a means of minimising the consequences of a fall, should it occur. The conforms to the test requirements of EN 355-1:2014+A1:2017 for one user of total weight not exceeding 150kg and can be fitted to a variety of ladders and rung types (ranging between 25 - 40mm).
It comprises a 8mm 7x7 construction stainless steel lifeline that can extend up to 200m using intermediate brackets to prevent wind chatter. The mounting brackets are connected to the ladder rungs at the top and bottom to which the lifeline is attached using swaged tensioner at the bottom and swaged fork at the top.
The system employs a vertical traveller device with incorporated shock absorber. The user connects to the traveller using the front D-ring of an EN361 full body harness.
NOTE: 1.The system should only be used by those who are competent to work at height.
NOTE2: Systems that employ fall arrest must have an accompanying rescue plan and competent persons available to fulfil the plan should a fall occur.

Horizontal Lifeline Systems
Ocean Technical Safety Services Ltd is an SFS approved installer and has years of experience designing and installing horizontal wire fall protection lifelines for use on roofs of various types including single ply, trapezoidal roof sheets and standing seam roof sheets.
The SFS horizontal lifeline system has been tested by SATRA to EN795:2012; CEN TS16415:2013 multiple user and ACR Magenta guidelines making it a supremely robust and reliable system that is compatible with a wide range of roof sheets. The system comprises a series of top fixed shock absorbing posts that are anchored to the outer skin of the roof sheet using a variety of SFS proprietary fixings that are compatible with the specific roof finish. An 8mm diameter 7x7 construction steel wire lifeline runs between the end anchor posts and through intermediate posts to allow the system to be traversed continuously using the "SOTER II Horizontal Traveller Device".
Our horizontal lifeline systems are designed by experienced and competent System Designers in accordance with the recommendations of BS 7883: 2019. We design or systems using the hierarchy of control, always putting fall restraint ahead of fall arrest by routing our systems so that falls are prevented. We will not compromise by putting cost ahead of safety and to mitigate the possibility of "foreseeable misuse", we always design our fall restraint systems for fall arrest.
NOTE: 1.The system should only be used by those who are competent to work at height.
NOTE2: Systems that employ fall arrest must have an accompanying rescue plan and competent persons available to fulfil the plan should a fall occur.
